If you know who I am, you know that I live somewhere in the middle of South Dakota. I had a slight hope of possibly having a moderate GOP Governor elected. Those hopes were dashed. We are having a runoff for the GOP nominee for Governor. Toby Doeden and Governor Larry Rhoden are in the runoff. I don’t talk to very many people are complimentary of Gov. Rhoden’s leadership of the state. I know that I’m not impressed. Mr. Doeden when he was getting his name out in the introductory phase of the GOP primary ran as Donald trump light. Just what an agricultural socialistic state needs. One of his major planks is eliminating property taxes. Great, but he hasn’t said what he would replace them with. Because I don’t want to hear that he can cut out all property taxes, find offsetting cuts by waste, fraud, and abuse. I know that there isn’t enough when you go through the state budget to find money that the government doesn’t need. So until I hear what he says he will increase to offset the reduction in revenue from property taxes, I view him as a fraud.
Since I am in South Dakota, there are the two candidates that can win and when the primary runoff is over, we will have our Governor-elect. The South Dakota Democratic Party is still a joke. We had President Joe Biden visit our state a week or two ago. Instead of using that visit for promotion and trying to make inroads for their candidates to actually have a chance to win in November, they got one day of press and nothing else. Where is the advertising? Where is the questioning of which President actually cares about South Dakota? Because I would be running an ad that Joe Biden, even though he is no longer President still cares enough about South Dakota to try and bring his values to the state and pictures of him visiting local spots. Then ask when is President Trump coming back to visit this fine state. But there is none of that.
The Democratic Nominee for Governor is Dan Ahlers, the Executive director of the state’s Democratic Party. He ran unopposed.
