I have always liked collecting trading cards. When I first started, it was a fun thing to do. The hobby was exactly that a hobby. I did more trading of cars for my favorite players than actual selling and buying single cards. That has changed since I was first introduced to the hobby. Now, everyone seems to think that this is a get rich quick possibility. It’s not. If you treat this like a business, then you can make some money but the odds are that you will lose money. Because the Sammy Sosa piece of Jersey card that you invested in when the market rate was $20, is about $3 today with no possibility of moving up to recoup your losses.
That being said, I still love collecting cards. Always have always will. I loved when somebody would open a box of cards and report what they found inside. Not the breaks that they show on YouTube, where they skip over everything besides inserts of something they deem as valuable. I am talking taking the time to sort and tell you exactly what was in the box. Not individual names for common cards, but the number of cards, what the odds were to pull an insert, stuff like that. So I am going to report on what I pulled from the Mega Box I opened about a half an hour ago.

Overall, not a good buy if you are trying to make a complete set of base set cards. You would need to buy at least 5 of these boxes to make a complete set of the 150 base set cards. At the eBay going rate, you are spending over $200 on those Mega Boxes. That is if you get a box that doesn’t have any doubles or a card that you already have from a previous box. Which brings us to problem #2.
The distribution of cards. You can tell that the player cards do get doubled up if you look at the rookies that I pulled. I pulled four unique rookies and three doubles. Nice if you are trying to sell any doubles you pull, but not so much when you are trying to complete a set. The same with the base set veterans. I have 11 veteran players that I doubled up on pulling out of the packs. That is just Panini not caring what they throw into the boxes. So basically a quarter of the cards in the box that I received are doubles. Love that, not.
The parallels that Panini produced for this product is ridiculously stupid. They have thirteen parallels of the base set that are not numbered. There are thirty-one parallels of the base set that are numbered. That means that there are forty-four parallel sets for the base set alone. That doesn’t count the parallels for all the insert cards. It is a stupid thing and eventually cause collectors to try and find other products. Because if I go into a product saying that I need one of each parallel that is not numbered or is numbered over 200 and I have to find 20 cards, I will refuse to do that. I do not need 20 Kate Martin cards that are all the same besides the effects that are done to the card. The picture and all the information on each of those cards is the same.
In closing, it is a typical Panini product. Way too many parallels, not enough big names that are present, and a design that doesn’t wow you. The $40 price tag on eBay is too high for what you receive from the Mega Box. My recommendation is not to buy the Mega Box and if you want WNBA cards to try a blaster box if not a hobby box.
